Taxonomy: Investment Casting
Investment casting creates metallic workpieces by pouring molten metal into a mold created from a wax pattern.
Overview of Process
Investment casting is a process that can create fine-detailed, precise metallic workpieces. A wax pattern is created, then coated with a slurry. When the resulting item is then heated to high temperatures, the wax melts away, leaving a mold. Molten metal is poured into this mold to make the workpiece.
